Ingredients for 50 servings:

  • 300 g flour
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • Salt
  • 200 g butter, cold
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 100 g hazelnuts
  • 100 g semi-sweet chocolate coating

Instructions

Working time approx. 50 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 50 minutes

Christmas cookies

Pile the flour, powdered sugar, vanilla sugar, and a pinch of salt onto the work surface. Cut the butter into small pieces and spread it on top. Make a well in the center and add the egg. Knead everything into a smooth dough. Finally, add the hazelnuts. Shape the dough into a log about 40 cm long, cover, and chill for about 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Cut the dough log into slices about 10 mm thick. Place the slices on a baking tray. Bake in the center of the oven (160°C fan/convection oven) for about 12 minutes until golden brown. Remove the hazelnut bread from the oven and let it cool. Melt the chocolate coating and dip the breads into the melted chocolate, up to the center. Place on baking paper to dry.
