Heart Cherry Cake from Tray

The perfect heart cherry cake from tray recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 kg Sweet cherries fresh from the neighbour’s tree
  • 2 tbsp Kirsch
  • 125 g Milk
  • 25 g Yeast
  • 300 g Flour
  • 3 piece Egg, separated
  • 60 g Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  1. You also need 1 baking sheet, some butter to brush on and some sugar to sprinkle on the sheet. Wash the cherries, remove the stems and core them. Tip: They can be removed better if they have been in the TK for a few minutes beforehand.
  2. Warm the milk slightly (lukewarm) and dissolve the yeast in it.
  3. Put the flour, 40 grams of sugar and a pinch of salt in a bowl, add the yeast milk and 3 egg yolks and stir to form a smooth dough. Let the dough rise at 40-50 degrees for about 25-30 minutes.
  4. Slowly beat the egg white together with the remaining sugar until stiff.
  5. As soon as the batter has risen, carefully fold in the cherries and egg whites.
  6. Brush the baking sheet with butter and sprinkle with sugar. Pour in the dough and bake in the oven at 180 degrees top / bottom heat (oven was preheated) for about 20 minutes.
