Hearty white bean stew

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g potatoes, floury
  • 150 g ham or bacon, diced
  • 3 spring onions
  • 1 tbsp lard
  • 1 can beans, white with soup vegetables
  • 1 tbsp stock powder
  • n. B. water
  • 1 stalk of savory
  • 1 stalk of lovage, if available
  • salt and pepper
  • Garlic
  • n. B. sausage

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Peel and dice the potatoes, dice the ham into small cubes, and finely slice the onion. Sauté the ham and onion rings in lard, add the potato cubes, salt, savory, and lovage, and top up with the water and stock powder so that the potatoes are just covered. Be careful with the salt, as the stock and ham already contain salt. Let everything simmer for about 15 minutes, then add the beans. Bring everything to a boil again briefly, then let it simmer for about 10 minutes. If desired, add the garnish (Wiener, Bockwurst, or Fleischwurst) and let it simmer. I like to serve it with pickles.
