Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 6 fish fillets (matjes fillets)
  • 2 apples, green
  • 4 cucumber(s), sour
  • 3 onions
  • 500 ml cream
  • some oil
  • some vinegar
  • some sugar
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 15 minutes

with boiled potatoes

Cut the herring fillet into bite-sized pieces. Dice the apples and cucumbers, and slice the onions. Pour the cream into a large bowl and season with vinegar and sugar to a light sweet and sour taste. Stir in the oil vigorously. Season with salt and pepper. Add all the remaining ingredients to the cream, stir well, and let stand for about 2 hours. Tip: Serve with the boiled potatoes.
