Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 6 herring fillets
  • 1 onion(s), red
  • 2 small apples
  • 1 cup of crème fraîche (150g)
  • 200 g quark
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • lemon juice
  • dill

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Rest time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Rinse the fish, pat dry, and cut into bite-sized pieces. Peel the onion, slice it, and cut it into rings. Peel, quarter, core, and slice the apples. Mix the crème fraîche with the quark, then carefully fold in the herring pieces, onion rings, and apple slices. Season the herring stew with salt, pepper, and lemon juice, chill for a while, and serve garnished with dill.
