Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 liter of cola, not “diet”, “light” or “zero”
  • 1 liter orange juice with pulp
  • 1 ½ kg tomato ketchup
  • 200 ml whiskey
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 tbsp, heaped paprika powder, hot
  • 10 jalapeño(s), pickled
  • 2 tbsp broth from the pickled jalapeños
  • 1 pinch of salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 4 hours 10 minutes; Total time approx. 6 hours 25 minutes

simple and vegetarian

Peel the onions and dice them into small cubes, but don’t chop them. Combine all ingredients, except the jalapeños, jalapeño liquid, and salt, in a large enough pot and bring to a boil for about 10 minutes. Stir regularly. Then simmer over medium heat for about 4 hours until the liquid has reduced by half. Stir occasionally and mix the liquid from the sides of the pot back into the sauce. Let the sauce cool for about 2 hours. Then stir in the jalapeños. Finally, season to taste with the jalapeño liquid and salt. This sauce is excellent, and not just with grilled food!
