Homemade Vanilla Sauce

The perfect homemade vanilla sauce recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 500 ml Milk
  • 1 Vanilla pod
  • 4 tbsp Vanilla sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  1. Cut the vanilla pod lengthways and scrape out the pulp with a knife.
  2. Put the vanilla pod and the vanilla pulp in a saucepan with the milk.
  3. The vanilla milk is allowed to boil once and then steep for another 15-20 minutes.
  4. Beat the eggs with the sugar until frothy and then slowly add to the milk, stirring constantly.
  5. Attention! The vanilla sauce must not be heated too much, otherwise the egg will curdle.
  6. Tip 6: Should the egg actually clot, a whisk / magic wand could help. You might be able to save something with this trick, but I haven’t had to test it on myself yet. But I would be happy to receive your feedback, although I do not wish anyone to do so.
