Hot cherries with a hint of cinnamon

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 350 g sour cherries from the jar, pitted, drained
  • 350 ml cherry juice
  • 20 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick(s)
  • 20 g cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Bring the cherry juice, sugar, and cinnamon stick to a boil in a saucepan. Meanwhile, mix the cornstarch with the water in a cup. When the juice mixture is bubbling, add the mixed cornstarch and bring everything back to a boil. Then reduce the heat, add the drained cherries, and simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Remove the cinnamon stick before serving. The cherries can be eaten hot, for example, with waffles or vanilla pudding.
