Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 4 cl gin
  • 2 cl lemon juice
  • 2 cl syrup (elderberry syrup)
  • e.g. water, hot
  • 1 lemon(s) – slice
  • 3 carnations
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Rest time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Hot Toddy based on gin, refined with elderflower syrup.

Pour the gin, lemon juice, and elderflower syrup into a cup or glass (suitable for hot drinks), fill with hot water, and stir. Stud the lemon slice with cloves and add it to the remaining ingredients along with the cinnamon stick. Let it steep for a short while and serve hot! This recipe is a variation of the classic Scottish Hot Toddy, which is made with whisky and sugar or honey. Many people also use it as a home remedy for colds, traditionally drunk before going to bed. Thanks to the elderflower syrup in the variation presented here, it could also be said to have expectorant properties. However, since the alcohol it contains also dehydrates the body, it is advisable to enjoy the Hot Toddy with a glass of mineral water if you have a cold and not to drink more than one cup.
