Hungarian chicken goulash

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 chicken legs
  • 4 onions
  • 1 can/n tomato(s) (Pizza tomatoes)
  • 2 cans of tomato paste
  • Paprika powder, hot
  • salt and pepper
  • 500 ml chicken broth
  • Clarified butter, for frying
  • possibly chili powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Divide the chicken thighs. Season all chicken pieces with salt, pepper, and paprika. Brown in clarified butter. Peel the onions and dice them not too finely. Add them to the chicken and fry until translucent. Pour in the chicken stock until the thighs are covered. Simmer for 25 minutes. Add the pizza tomatoes and tomato paste. Season with hot paprika or chili powder. We like this with dumplings (recipe in my profile). Dough dumplings are basically “giant spaetzle.”
