Hussar Donuts

The perfect hussar donuts recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 210 g Spelled flour
  • 70 g Sugar
  • 140 g Ice cold butter
  • 2 Egg yolk
  • Lemon zest
  • Jam as desired to fill
  • Powdered sugar
  1. Make kneading dough from flour, sugar, butter, egg yolk and lemon zest and chill for an hour
  2. Shape the dough into balls, place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and press a recess in the middle (this is best done with the handle of a wooden spoon)
  3. Pour the jam into the recess according to your taste and bake at 175 degrees circulating air for about 15 – 20 minutes. Let cool on a cake rack and sprinkle with powdered sugar
