Hussar Krapferl

The perfect hussar krapferl recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 Vanilla pod
  • 200 g Margarine
  • 100 g Sugar
  • 2 Egg yolk
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 300 g Flour
  • 100 g Ground hazelnuts
  • 200 g Raspberry jelly
  • Icing sugar for dusting
  1. Scrape out the vanilla pod. Knead the butter, sugar, egg yolk, salt and vanilla pulp well. Add flour and hazelnuts and work everything into a smooth shortcrust pastry. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for about 2 hours. Shape the dough into 2 rolls, cut into pieces approx. 1 cm thick and form balls from them. Place on a baking tray covered with baking paper. Use the handle of a wooden spoon to make a recess in each ball and squirt jelly into the recess. Preheat the oven to 200 °. Bake until golden yellow for about 12-15 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
