American model, makes about 30 pieces
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and peanut butter together with an electric mixer for 1 minute. Mix in the sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda until well blended. Then add the egg and vanilla sugar. Gradually stir in the flour. Form the dough into small balls (approx. 3 cm in diameter). Sprinkle a small pile of sugar on the work surface and roll the balls through until the sugar sticks evenly. Spread the balls on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Flatten once horizontally and once vertically with a fork. Bake at 190°C for 8 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes before removing from the baking sheet, otherwise they will break quickly. Tip: Use chunky peanut butter and/or crumble 3 Snickers bars and add them to the batter. If you prefer them extra soft and moist, skip the flattening and bake them for just 7 minutes. Simply delicious!
