Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 6 apples, preferably Granny Smith
  • 175 g sugar
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 50 g oat flakes (fine)
  • 60 g brown sugar
  • 25 g flour
  • 75 g butter, soft
  • 50 g nuts, chopped pecans (or walnuts)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Peel, core, and slice the apples. In a bowl, mix the apples with the sugar, flour, and cinnamon and place in a large greased baking dish. Preheat the oven to 180°C. In a second bowl, mix the oats, brown sugar, and flour. Add the softened butter and chopped nuts and knead until coated. Sprinkle over the apples. Place in the oven for about 40 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender. Tip: We love to eat Apple Crisp fresh from the oven with a scoop of vanilla or cream ice cream and homemade caramel sauce.
