Kasseler – bacon cake

Ingredients for 12 servings:

  • 125 g dough (bread dough)
  • 800 g leek
  • 400 g bacon, fresh
  • 5 eggs
  • 4 rolls, from the day before
  • Milk
  • ½ cup oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • breadcrumbs

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Roll out the bread dough on a baking sheet. Finely chop the washed leek. Dice the rolls and soak them in milk (only use as much milk as the rolls absorb). Whisk the eggs and mix them with the soaked rolls. Add the salt, oil, and leek and mix well. Spread the mixture over the bread dough. Dice the bacon and roll it in breadcrumbs, then spread it over the dough and bake the cake at 180 degrees Celsius for about 40 minutes. Bacon cake should be eaten hot. We add a little more salt before eating.
