Kohlrabi and potato gratin

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 kohlrabi
  • 400 g potatoes
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • salt and pepper
  • Nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 3 eggs
  • 250 g cream
  • 150 g cheese (Emmental), freshly grated
  • Butter, for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Peel the kohlrabi and potatoes and slice thinly. Peel and halve the garlic clove, then finely chop one half. Rub half of the garlic clove into an ovenproof dish, then grease the dish with butter. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Whisk the eggs with the cream and cheese in a bowl, stir in the chopped garlic. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, and nutmeg and pour over the vegetables. Bake in a hot oven (center, fan oven 160°C (320°F)) for about 40 minutes. If the surface of the gratin starts to brown, cover with aluminum foil.
