Kubbe – Potato Balls with Minced Filling
The perfect kubbe – potato balls with minced filling recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
*** POTATO BATTER ***
- 8 big Boiled potatoes
- 1 tbsp Salt
- Flour
*** FILLING ***
- 2 big Chopped onions
- 500 g Minced meat
- 1 tsp Sweet paprika
- 0,5 tsp Baharat
- 0,5 tsp Black pepper
- 1 Handful Pine nuts
- 0,5 Cup Sultanas
- Salt
*** FLOURS ***
- Flour
- Sweet paprika
- Boil, peel and mash the potatoes. Add salt and flour – as much as necessary until a well malleable dough is formed (I added about 5 tbsp).
- For the filling, finely dice / chop the onions and sauté in a little olive oil until golden. Add the spices and the minced meat and fry everything until crumbly. Add pine nuts and fry for about 2-3 minutes. Add the sultanas and fry them for a few minutes. Finally add the salt. Let cool down.
- Meanwhile, divide the potato dough into 15 equal sized balls.
- With wet hands, flatten one ball of dough on the palm of the hand, place a well-filled tablespoon of the minced meat in the middle and then close the dough around the filling to form a ball again. Then flatten the ball a little.
- Now roll the filled meatballs in the paprika flour and fry them until golden in hot oil.
