Kubbe – Potato Balls with Minced Filling

The perfect kubbe – potato balls with minced filling recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

*** POTATO BATTER ***

  • 8 big Boiled potatoes
  • 1 tbsp Salt
  • Flour

*** FILLING ***

  • 2 big Chopped onions
  • 500 g Minced meat
  • 1 tsp Sweet paprika
  • 0,5 tsp Baharat
  • 0,5 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 Handful Pine nuts
  • 0,5 Cup Sultanas
  • Salt

*** FLOURS ***

  • Flour
  • Sweet paprika
  1. Boil, peel and mash the potatoes. Add salt and flour – as much as necessary until a well malleable dough is formed (I added about 5 tbsp).
  2. For the filling, finely dice / chop the onions and sauté in a little olive oil until golden. Add the spices and the minced meat and fry everything until crumbly. Add pine nuts and fry for about 2-3 minutes. Add the sultanas and fry them for a few minutes. Finally add the salt. Let cool down.
  3. Meanwhile, divide the potato dough into 15 equal sized balls.
  4. With wet hands, flatten one ball of dough on the palm of the hand, place a well-filled tablespoon of the minced meat in the middle and then close the dough around the filling to form a ball again. Then flatten the ball a little.
  5. Now roll the filled meatballs in the paprika flour and fry them until golden in hot oil.
