Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 onions
  • 75 g bacon
  • salt and pepper
  • Fat

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 45 minutes

Peel the potatoes, grate them finely, and squeeze them well through a linen cloth. Reserve the liquid, wait until the starch has separated, then drain the liquid and mix the potato starch into the potatoes. Bring the milk to a boil and mix well into the potato mixture. Mix in the eggs. Cut the bacon into strips, finely chop the onions, and fry both. Let them cool slightly and mix them into the potatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Grease a medium-high casserole dish and pour in the mixture. Bake in the oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 1 hour, until the surface is nicely browned. Cut into pieces and serve hot. Serve with the same sauce as for the cepelinai.
