Lumberjack dumplings with apple sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 250 g flour
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Boiling water
  • 1 jar applesauce
  • Clarified butter
  • Powdered sugar, for sprinkling
  • Cinnamon, for sprinkling

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Mix the flour and salt thoroughly. Add enough boiling water to form a slightly firmer dough. Form this dough into small dumplings and place them in boiling, lightly salted water. When the dumplings float to the surface, they are ready. Remove them from the pan and let them drain on a cloth. Heat plenty of clarified butter in a deep pan. Fry the dumplings until golden brown. Remove the baked dumplings from the pan and let them drain on kitchen paper. For the garnish, mix together some powdered sugar and ground cinnamon. Serve the dumplings on plates with the applesauce. Sprinkle the dumplings with cinnamon sugar.
