Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 cup(s) pasta (macaroni)
  • ¼ cup(s) onion(s), diced
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • some pepper
  • 1 cup(s) milk
  • 1 cup(s) cheese, grated
  • 1 m.-sized tomato(s), sliced

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Cook the pasta al dente. Meanwhile, sauté the onions in butter. Add the flour and pepper. Add the milk all at once. Stir until the sauce thickens. While stirring, add the cheese and continue stirring until the cheese has melted. Transfer the pasta to an ovenproof dish and pour the cheese sauce over it. Bake in the oven at 150-200°C for 25-30 minutes. Sprinkle the tomato slices over the cheese 5 minutes before the end of the baking time. Let rest for about 10 minutes. Variation: If you like, you can also add rendered bacon or cooked ham.
