Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 225 g pasta (macaroni)
  • 8 sausages (Frankfurter)
  • 200 g corn kernels
  • 3 spring onions, thinly sliced
  • 40 g butter
  • 40 g flour
  • 425 ml milk
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tbsp mustard (Dijon mustard)
  • 290 g cheese

simple, quick and hearty

Cook the macaroni in salted water until al dente. Meanwhile, heat the sausages. Cut the frankfurters into pieces and mix them with the macaroni. For the sauce, melt the butter in a small saucepan. Sauté the flour for 1 minute while stirring. Stir in the milk in portions, bring the sauce to a boil, and let it thicken for 1-2 minutes. Then remove from the heat, season with salt, pepper, and mustard, and stir in 240g of the cheese. Mix the corn and spring onions into the macaroni, fold in the sauce, and then pour the mixture into a baking dish. Sprinkle the surface evenly with the remaining cheese. Brown everything under the preheated broiler for 2-3 minutes.
