Macaroni and cheese with bacon

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g pasta (macaroni)
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 eggs
  • 100 g cream cheese with herbs
  • ¼ liter of milk
  • Garlic butter
  • 7 slice(s) breakfast bacon
  • 150 g peas, frozen
  • 100 g cheese (butter cheese), grated

Cook the pasta in plenty of salted water for 8-10 minutes until al dente, then drain. Whisk together the eggs, cream cheese, and milk and season generously with salt and pepper. Grease a large casserole dish with garlic butter. Place the bacon slices along the edge of the dish, leaving about 5 cm overhanging. Fill the dish with the macaroni and peas and pour the egg wash over them. Fold the excess bacon strips over the top. Sprinkle the cheese over the casserole. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of garlic butter on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C, fan oven 175°C, gas mark 3, for 30-40 minutes. Serve with fresh salad and apple spritzer.
