Macaroni and Tuna Casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g pasta (macaroni)
  • 2 cans of tuna in oil
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 can/n tomatoes
  • 5 tbsp whipped cream
  • 150 g peas, frozen
  • 100 g cheese (Edam), grated
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour

Cook the pasta in boiling salted water for about 8 minutes. Drain the tuna. Peel and dice the onions and garlic. Sauté the onions and garlic in hot oil. Sauté the tomato paste. Chop the tomatoes slightly, add them with their juice, and bring to a boil. Simmer for about 10 minutes. Then stir in the cream and season to taste. Drain the pasta. Layer the tuna, peas, and tomato sauce in a greased baking dish. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the top. Bake the casserole in a preheated oven (electric oven: 200°C/fan: 175°C/gas mark 3) for 25-30 minutes.
