Make Bruschetta Yourself: Here’s How

The delicious appetizer from Italy is a classic, especially in summer. In this article, we will show you how easy it is to make bruschetta yourself.

Make traditional bruschetta yourself – that’s how it works

To prepare bruschettas yourself, all you need is white bread, olive oil, garlic, tomatoes, salt, and pepper. That’s how it works:

  • First, grate the garlic.
  • Now peel the tomatoes, deseed them, and then cut them into small cubes. A little tip: If you scratch the tomatoes slightly beforehand and briefly dip them in boiling water, you can remove the skin more easily.
  • Now mix the diced tomatoes with a little olive oil and the grated garlic.
  • Now season the mixture with a little salt and pepper.
  • To get a particularly aromatic taste, drizzle the white bread with a little olive oil and rub the slices with half a clove of garlic.
  • Now you should lightly toast the white bread in the oven at around 200°C. This takes between 3-7 minutes.
  • After toasting, you can spread the mixture on the bread.
  • Then sprinkle some chopped basil on top. You can also use arugula instead of basil.

Bruschetta variations: These options are available

Of course, you can also experiment and invent your own bruschetta variations. We have already compiled a few for you here:

  • For example, you could slice green asparagus and sauté them in a pan with onions. You can then mix these two ingredients with the tomato mixture and get a whole new taste experience.
  • The popular combination of tomato and mozzarella can also be used in bruschetta. Cut the mozzarella as small as possible and then mix it with the tomato mixture.
  • If you use rocket, a combination with feta cheese goes very well. To do this, crush the feta cheese a little and then add it to the mixture. But be careful not to process the cheese into mush.
  • The combination with mushrooms is also very popular. You should preferably use mushrooms for this. Cut the mushrooms into small cubes and then put them in a pan with a small onion. When the mushrooms are well fried, mix them in with the tomatoes and enjoy their wonderful aroma on the bread.
