Make chicken broth yourself: Here’s how
For a chicken broth, you need the following ingredients: 1 soup chicken, 1 onion, 2 tablespoons salt, 2 bay leaves, and 3 liters of water. Make sure the chicken is of good quality. Go for a free-range chicken instead.
- Wash the soup chicken inside and out with cold water. Then pat it dry with a paper kitchen towel.
- Place the chicken in a large pot. Pour in about 3 liters of water. Add enough water to completely cover the soup chicken.
- Clean and dice the onion and add it to the pot.
- Let the water boil. Once the water is boiling, turn the heat down. The chicken now has to cook for about two hours. Occasionally remove the foam that forms on the water.
- Finally, add the bay leaves for a few minutes.
- Once the chicken is done, take it out. Filter the onion pieces and the bay leaves through a sieve from the chicken broth.
- Now you can process the chicken broth into a chicken soup by cooking vegetables and noodles, for example.
