Recipe for making your own peppermint tea

Peppermint has a very refreshing, slightly peppery taste. It is best known for its antispasmodic effect on indigestion. We show you how you can prepare your own peppermint tea in no time at all.

  • You need fresh or dried peppermint leaves and hot water.
  • For a cup of fresh herb tea, pluck four medium-sized leaves from the plant and place them in a ceramic mug. If using the dried herb, use one tablespoon per cup.
  • Avoid metal pots or cups. This is not good for the herbs and the taste and the healing effect deteriorate.
  • Heat water with a kettle and scald the leaves.
  • Let the tea steep for ten minutes. After that, remove the leaves.
  • Prepare the tea from dried leaves, and let the mixture steep for about fifteen minutes. Otherwise, nothing changes in the preparation.
  • Alternatively, if you don’t have loose peppermint leaves, you can use pre-made tea bags.
  • Tip: A pinch of sugar or a teaspoon of honey underlines the aroma of the peppermint.
