Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 300 g matjes fillet(s) in oil
  • 1 apple, peeled, quartered
  • 1 onion(s), peeled
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 4 grains allspice
  • 4 peppercorns
  • 3 m.-large gherkins

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Total time approx. 1 day 15 minutes

Slice the apple, onion, and gherkins. Drain the herring fillets and cut into strips. Place everything in a bowl and add the sour cream, sour cream, peppercorns, and allspice, and mix well. Cover with cling film and let it marinate in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
