Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 package of puff pastry, frozen
  • 100 g marzipan paste
  • 1 tbsp, levelled sugar
  • 1 tbsp rum
  • 1 tbsp apricot jam
  • 1 egg yolk, mixed with 1 tsp water
  • 2 tbsp almonds, chopped
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 25 minutes

Puff pastry

Thaw the puff pastry according to the instructions. Mix the marzipan with the sugar, rum, and apricot jam (you may need to finely chop the marzipan first). Line a baking sheet with baking paper. Spread the marzipan mixture onto three sheets of dough, place the remaining sheets on top of the marzipan mixture, press down, and roll out lightly (12x24cm). Cut the dough sheets into 2x12cm strips, using a wafer cutter if available, and twist them into spirals. Place on a baking sheet and brush with beaten egg yolk. Sprinkle with chopped almonds, then let rest for 15 minutes. In the meantime, preheat the oven. After the resting time, bake the marzipan sticks for 15 minutes at 200°C. After baking, let cool on a wire rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
