Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 0.2 liters of water
  • 0.3 liters of milk
  • 6 white peppercorns
  • 2 slice(s) ginger, unpeeled
  • 1 juniper berry(s), lightly crushed
  • 1 clove(s), whole
  • 1 pinch of vanilla powder or vanilla paste
  • ½ vanilla pod(s), as desired
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 cardamom pods, green, opened
  • ½ stalk(s) cinnamon, coarsely crumbled
  • 2 tsp black tea

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Chai (tea) with lots of milk and spices

Bring all ingredients to a boil, let steep for about 5 minutes, then strain through a sieve and enjoy. If using a vanilla pod, scrape out the seeds and boil them with the pod. Tips: It’s quickest if you heat the water in a kettle and add it later. You can also make more tea at once by simply doubling or tripling the quantities. You can leave the spice amounts as stated in the recipe and only adjust the water, milk, honey, vanilla, and tea. You can usually leave the spices in the pot and brew again later, then simply add the honey, vanilla (only if powder or paste was used), and tea. You can use this recipe as a guideline and adjust the quantities as desired, or even omit some spices altogether if you don’t have them or don’t like them. You can also drink the tea cold, but then use less honey.
