Mashed potatoes with bacon, fried onions and cheddar

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 ½ kg potatoes
  • 250 g bacon, diced
  • 3 m.-sized onion(s)
  • e.g. Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 200 g sour cream
  • 1 shot of milk
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg
  • some oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Peel the potatoes and boil them in water with a pinch of salt until tender. Meanwhile, fry the bacon. Peel the onions, dice them roughly, and fry them until golden brown. Once the potatoes are tender, discard the water. Add the sour cream to the potatoes and mash them, adding milk if necessary, until the desired consistency is reached. Finally, stir in a large handful of Cheddar cheese, the onions, and the bacon, and season the mashed potatoes with nutmeg and pepper. Serve sprinkled with Cheddar cheese.
