Minced apple in dark beer sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 10 servings:

  • 1.2 kg minced meat, mixed
  • 20 apples
  • 50 g capers from the jar
  • 4 onions
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 bottles of beer, dark
  • 1 pack of dark gravy for 500 ml liquid
  • 200 g feta cheese

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes

Hearty with a vegan option

Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Hollow out the apples generously (as you would for baked apples). Sauté the onions until translucent, then add the minced meat and garlic and fry until crispy. Carefully mix in the capers. In another pot, dissolve the gravy in the dark beer and bring to a boil for one minute. Stuff the apples with the minced meat mixture and top with feta cubes. Place the minced apples in a casserole dish and pour half of the dark beer sauce over them. Braise for 40 minutes, adding the remaining dark beer sauce after 20 minutes. Serve with spaetzle and salad. For a vegan alternative, replace the minced meat with smoked tofu and use a halved cherry tomato instead of feta.
