Ingredients for 5 servings:

  • 500 g minced beef or mixed
  • 1 stale roll
  • 1 onion(s), diced
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp herbs, fresh or frozen, chopped
  • 100 g grated cheese (cheese blend)
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder
  • 150 g sausage (smoked sausage), cut into very thin slices
  • Fat for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Soak the bread roll in water, squeeze out excess moisture, and mix well with the minced meat, onion, egg, mustard, cheese, herbs, and spices using a fork. Form the mixture into about 30 small sausages. Wrap each sausage in a slice of thinly sliced ​​smoked sausage—I use Weinviertler Winzerwurst. Heat a little fat in a pan and fry the rolls until crispy on all sides, or grill them. Serve with tomato sauce and pasta or potato salad.
