Minced meat and vegetable balls with feta filling in tomato sauce

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 kg minced meat, mixed
  • 4 carrots
  • 2 onions
  • 50 g dried tomatoes
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 50 g olives, black
  • possibly egg(s)
  • possibly breadcrumbs
  • 1 pack of feta cheese, approx. 200 g, cut into cubes
  • 1 tube(s) Tomato paste
  • 2 cans of chopped tomatoes, 450 g each
  • 1 package of tomatoes, pureed, approx. 500 ml
  • 100 ml vegetable stock
  • 1 handful of basil and marjoram
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • n. B. sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 40 minutes

Peel the carrots, onions, and garlic. Finely chop them in a blender with the olives and sun-dried tomatoes. Mix the chopped vegetables well with the minced meat and season to taste. Depending on the quality of the minced meat, add breadcrumbs and eggs to combine. Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat). Prepare the sauce in a casserole dish. Mix the tomato paste, passata, diced tomatoes, and stock well. Finely chop the marjoram and basil and add. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of sugar as desired. Spread about a handful of minced meat evenly on your hand. Place a feta cube in the center and then firmly shape it into a ball. Place the balls in the sauce and bake everything on the middle rack at 180°C (350°F) for about 60 minutes.
