Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 600 g minced beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • ½ cup broth
  • salt and pepper
  • Allspice
  • a few stalks of parsley
  • some thyme stalks
  • a few stalks of basil
  • 5 small kohlrabi
  • 1 large potato(s)
  • 1 cup of cream
  • 200 g cheese, grated (gratin cheese)

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Peel and dice the onion. Dice the garlic and sauté in 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat until translucent. After a few minutes, remove from the pan and fry the minced meat in the remaining oil over high heat until crumbly. Add the tomato paste and fry briefly (but don’t let it burn). Deglaze with the stock and add the onions and spices. Let it simmer over medium heat. Preheat the oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat). Peel the kohlrabi and slice or slice thinly, about 1.5 mm thick. Peel the potatoes and repeat. Line a baking dish with a layer of kohlrabi slices, add a pinch of salt and pepper, and cover with a little meat sauce. Then place the potato slices on top of the sauce, season lightly with salt and pepper, and sprinkle with some cheese. Add more meat sauce and finish with a layer of kohlrabi. Pour a cup of cream over the casserole and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Then place in the oven for about 45 minutes and serve with a mixed salad.
