Mirabelle liqueur from Omi

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 ½ kg mirabelle plums, fully ripe
  • 250 g rock sugar, brown
  • 1 liter of schnapps (fruit brandy) or gin

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

The mirabelle plums are washed and cut with a knife. Ensure that only ripe and undamaged plums are used. The mirabelle plums are placed in a glass jar and the rock sugar is poured on top. Finally, the fruit brandy is added. The mixture is left to infuse for 8 weeks in a cool, dark place. Shake the jar occasionally to remix the contents. After this time, the liqueur is strained through a coffee filter lined with filter paper and poured into prepared bottles. Before enjoying, the bottles must rest in a cool, dark place for another 4-6 weeks.
