Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 125 g butter
- 125 g sugar
- 2 eggs
- 500 g quark
- 150 g rice pudding
- 125 ml milk
- 250 ml milk
- ½ lemon(s), zest
- 4 apples, peeled and grated
- 1 jar morello cherries (please do not use any other variety, only this one tastes really good)
Instructions
Working time approx. 45 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 45 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 30 minutes
Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add one egg and beat until fluffy. Add the second egg and beat until fluffy. Stir in the quark, stir in the rice pudding, add 1/8 liter of milk and continue stirring. Stir in the lemon zest and apples. Grease the casserole dish with butter. Pour the mixture into the casserole dish and smooth it down. Pour 1/4 liter of milk over it and do NOT stir it in. If you like, scatter small flakes of butter on the surface. Place everything in an oven that has not been preheated at 180 degrees Celsius (top/bottom heat). Wait for about 1 3/4 hours and then check the color of the surface. The casserole is best when the surface is a nice dark brown. When it’s ready, spoon some onto the plate and add the cherries with their juices. A delicious sweet dish is ready.
