Oatmeal casserole with cherries

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 200 g oat flakes, wholegrain
  • 1 jar sour cherries (680 g)
  • 3 eggs
  • 100 g butter
  • 75 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 250 g quark (20%)
  • 200 ml milk
  • some butter for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Drain the sour cherries thoroughly in a colander. Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat). Grease a casserole dish with butter. Separate the eggs. Beat the egg yolks with the butter and sugar until frothy. Add the vanilla sugar, cinnamon, quark, oats, and milk and mix well. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and fold them into the mixture along with the drained sour cherries. Pour into the casserole dish. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes. Serve the casserole while still warm. Vanilla sauce is delicious with it.
