Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 250 g flour
- 100 g sugar
- 50 g candied orange peel, finely chopped
- 125 g butter
- 1 egg(s)
- 1 orange(s), untreated, peeled
- 2 tbsp coffee powder (or instant coffee)
- 200 g powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp orange liqueur
- Confectionery (mocha beans) for decoration
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
Knead the flour, sugar, candied orange peel, butter, egg, and orange zest into a smooth dough, cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour. Meanwhile, prepare 1 cup of very strong coffee from the coffee grounds and let it cool. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 3 mm and cut out stars. Bake on baking paper for about 12 minutes at 190°C. Mix the powdered sugar with 4 tablespoons of the coffee and the orange liqueur, brush the stars with it, and decorate with the mocha beans. I decorate some of the stars with a coffee- and alcohol-free glaze, because children usually don’t like the taste of coffee.
