Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 650 ml mulled wine
- 100 ml orange juice, preferably freshly squeezed
- 450 ml vodka
- 1 vanilla pod(s)
- 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
- 3 carnations
- 3 star anise
- some cardamom
- some allspice
- 250 g sugar
Instructions
Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes
Put the cinnamon, cloves, star anise, cardamom and allspice in a tea strainer and seal it. Put the mulled wine, orange juice and sugar in a saucepan along with the spices and the seeds of the vanilla pod. Bring to a boil and reduce the liquid to 250 ml. Stir occasionally and remove the spices just before the right amount is reached. You can see the transition from liquid to syrupy; the liquid is no longer boiling but lots of small bubbles are forming. At this point, remove the pan from the heat. Measure out the syrup, pour it into a clean bottle, top up with vodka and let it steep in a dark place for another week. If you’re in a hurry, the liqueur is also drinkable straight away. Leftover syrup can also be used for ice cream or pudding.
