Mustard sauce with fried mustard

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 tbsp mustard, medium hot
  • 2 tbsp oil or frying residue from the previously fried meat
  • 1 liter broth, preferably homemade
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Side dish to meatballs, fish, etc., traditional recipe

Simmer the mustard in the pan drippings or oil until it forms a flaky consistency and smells aromatic. This is important for the final flavor. Add the broth and stir vigorously until the mustard and broth are combined. Season with salt and pepper, thicken with a little cornstarch if desired, and serve. This sauce goes well with pan-fried meat, fish, and even eggs.
