Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp water, hot
  • 140 g flour
  • 100 g oat flakes
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 125 g butter
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 tsp syrup (Grafschafter Goldsaft)
  • ½ tsp vanilla flavor
  • e.g. chocolate, almonds, nuts, coconut, raisins, etc.

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 12 minutes; Total time approx. 37 minutes

Oatmeal Cookies

Mix baking soda and hot water in a glass. Combine flour, oats, and salt in a bowl. Cream the butter until soft and creamy, then add the sugar, syrup, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Stir in the baking soda and water mixture. Stir in the flour and oat mixture with a wooden spoon until a thick batter forms. Garnish with finely chopped chocolate or similar to taste (e.g., 100g dark chocolate, 100g white chocolate, 100g macadamia nuts) or simply leave it plain. Drop the finished batter, teaspoon by teaspoon, onto the prepared baking sheet and press it flat. Bake in a preheated oven at 185°C for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
