Old German beer soup

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • ½ liter of milk
  • ¼ liter cream
  • ½ liter of beer (pilsner)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 100 g raisins
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • possibly sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Combine all liquid ingredients. Separate a few tablespoons and add the rest to a large pot. Bring to a boil over moderate heat along with salt, sugar, and the washed raisins. Mix the separated portion with the cornstarch and stir into the boiling soup. Bring the soup back to a boil, remove from the heat, and add the beaten egg yolks. Season to taste with cinnamon and, if desired, a little sugar.
