Onion-Apple-Chutney

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1,000 g onion(s)
  • 1,000 g apples, sour variety
  • 750 ml vinegar (fruit vinegar)
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 500 g sugar
  • 2 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 pinch(s) of cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp clove(s), ground
  • 1 tsp allspice, ground
  • 200 g raisins, chopped, seedless

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Peel the onions and apples. Remove the cores from the apples. Roughly chop the onions and apples. Bring the fruit vinegar to a boil with salt, sugar, curry powder, cayenne pepper, ground cloves, and allspice. Stir in the chopped onions and apples and bring back to a boil. Then add the raisins and simmer over low heat, stirring continuously, for about 40 minutes. Pour into jars while hot. Store in a cool place. Delicious with fondue, pork and meatloaf, meatballs, or even with cold roasts.
