Onion cake Grandpa Norbert's style

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg onion(s)
  • 2 cups of crème fraîche
  • ½ kg bacon, diced
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 packs of pizza dough
  • 1 pinch of caraway seeds

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Neustadt onion cake

Roll out the pizza dough on a baking sheet and form a crust about 1.5 cm high. Sauté the onions in a little butter. Fry the bacon and mix it with the onions. Whisk the crème fraîche and the two eggs and fold it into the onion mixture. Spread the mixture over the pizza dough. Sprinkle a pinch of caraway seeds over the onion tart to round it all off. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 1 hour. Let cool for about 30 minutes, then serve with a glass of wine.
