Onion – Cheese – Toast

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 slices of toast (wholemeal toast)
  • 60 g butter
  • 2 onions
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 100 g cheese (Gouda), grated
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Peel and finely dice the onions. Heat the oil in a pan and sauté the onions until translucent. Mix the cooled onions with the cheese. Season the mixture with salt and pepper. Lightly toast the slices of bread and spread them thinly with butter. Spread the onion and cheese mixture on the slices of bread. Bake under the preheated grill until the cheese has melted. A light main course or a hearty appetizer.
