Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 slices of white bread, or better still, ciabatta
  • 100 ml olive oil
  • 3 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove(s), chopped
  • 5 tomatoes
  • 1 small onion(s), red
  • 5 basil leaves
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Tuscan bread salad

Remove the crust from the white bread and cut the bread into cubes. Fry in a pan using as little fat as possible until golden brown, then let cool. Mix the oil, vinegar, and garlic in a bowl and add the bread cubes. Let stand for a few minutes so the bread can absorb the oil and vinegar mixture. Meanwhile, quarter the tomatoes and thinly slice the onion. Add to the bread and mix gently. Cut the basil leaves into thin strips and scatter over the bread. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
