Peas with bacon cubes

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg peas, fresh or frozen
  • 200 g bacon, lean, diced
  • 2 medium-sized onions, peeled and finely diced
  • 1 clove(s) garlic, peeled and finely diced
  • 10 ml dry white wine
  • 1 sprig(s) of thyme
  • some salt
  • some black pepper, freshly ground
  • some olive oil

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Small eggs with bacon

Lightly brown the bacon cubes in olive oil in a casserole dish. Then add the onions and garlic and glaze, stirring occasionally. Add the peas, white wine, and thyme, and simmer over low heat for about 25 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Stir, transfer to a bowl, and serve. In France, this dish is often served as a side dish with leg of lamb or pork chops.
