Peel the Kiwi Properly – That’s How it Works

You can peel the kiwi, but you don’t have to. If you decide to do this, be sure to only remove very thin strips of skin. As with many other types of fruit, the kiwi has many nutrients just under the skin.

Peel kiwi – option kitchen knife and vegetable peeler

If the kiwi is still relatively hard, it is best to peel the fruit with a sharp kitchen knife or a vegetable peeler.

  • Peel the kiwi from top to bottom. Make sure you only cut thin strips, otherwise you won’t have much left of the little vitamin C bomb.
  • If you are not quite as skilled with the kitchen knife, use a potato peeler, which is great for peeling the kiwi. In addition, do not throw the health-promoting nutrients in the organic bin afterwards.
  • If the kiwi is already ripe, the fruit will be very soft, making it much more difficult to peel fruit. In that case, you can reach your goal with a little trick.

Peel soft kiwi – option glass trick

Cut the kiwi in half. Take a kiwi in half and peel up the peel a little.

Place the kiwi over the rim of the glass so that the peel is outside the glass and the fruit is inside the glass. Then gently pull the kiwi down.

Process peeled kiwi

As already mentioned, you can eat the kiwis with the skin on. This will provide your body with some additional nutrients, but the taste is a bit borderline. If you still want to try it, you should buy organic kiwis and clean them well.

  • An alternative would be to prepare a delicious smoothie. In such a drink, the taste of the kiwi peel is hardly noticeable. Otherwise, the fruit goes well with almost any fruit salad and is also ideal as a small snack on the go.
  • Homemade yoghurt is quick to make and always delicious as a snack, which you quickly refine with two kiwis. By the way, the fruit turns the snack into an alkaline yoghurt, which can have a positive effect on your health.
  • Of course, the best is always the fruit from your own garden. Not only do you have the fruit really fresh right in front of you, but you also know 100% that the fruit is of pure organic quality.
  • Planting and multiplying the exotic kiwis also works for us. But you should pay attention to the proper care of the kiwi plants.
