Peppers steamed grandma's way

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 250 g bell pepper(s)
  • 250 g tomatoes
  • 250 g cucumber(s)
  • 50 g butter, margarine or 3 tbsp cooking oil
  • some salt
  • some sugar
  • 2 tsp, heaped cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water, cold to mix
  • 1 tbsp vinegar, approx.

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Wash the peppers, remove the seeds and white membranes, and slice the peppers into thin strips. Wash the tomatoes and slice them into chunks. Peel the cucumbers and cut them into not too thick slices. Melt the fat, add the peppers, tomatoes, and cucumbers, and heat briefly. Season with salt and sugar. Simmer the vegetables over low heat for about 10 minutes until tender. Thicken the mixture with the cornstarch and season to taste with salt, sugar, and vinegar.
