Persian spinach yogurt

Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 2 onions
  • 500 g leaf spinach, frozen
  • 500 g yogurt
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Finely chop the onions and sauté in a little oil. Add the thawed spinach leaves and sauté briefly. Let cool and stir in the yogurt. Season with salt and pepper, and you’re done! I copied this recipe from my Persian father-in-law. It’s simply delicious, super quick to make, and eaten cold, for example as a starter with warm flatbread. In Persia, everything is usually served together, so it’s also a great side dish, for example, with a rice dish. The original recipe probably uses fresh spinach and perhaps other spices, but it tastes delicious on its own too!
